Due to an overwhelming demand, a second show has been added at 9:30 p.m. in addition to the previously announced 7 p.m. show. Tickets for the second show go on sale as of Thursday, December 10 at 12 noon. Tickets are available at the Dalhousie Arts Centre box office, by phone at 494-3820 (1-800-874-1669) and online. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show and 9 p.m. for the 9:30 p.m. show.

Released on Sept. 29, The Rumba Foundation (EMI Music Canada) debuted at #1 on iTunes Canada. The album is the latest chapter in Cook’s celebrated, eclectic career and a journey of musical rediscovery, bringing his rumba flamenco sound back to its birthplace in Cuba and adding a fresh twist of regional fusions. Cook draws heavily from the Colombian Vallenato style on songs including “Bogota by Bus” and “Santa Marta” and in his collaborations with Latin Grammy Award-winning group Los Gaiteros.

Educated in jazz and classical guitar and imbued with gypsy flavour, Cook has released six critically acclaimed studio albums. His debut album Tempest entered the American Billboard charts at #14 in 1995, while Free Fall took home the 2001 JUNO Award for Best Instrumental Album. Acoustic Guitar Magazine named Cook the 2009 Players’ Choice Award silver medalist after Spanish virtuoso Paco de Lucía.
