With a self-described “smoky folkie” sound, Barber was nominated for two 2008 JUNO Awards and took home multiple East Coast Music Awards her previous releases For All Time (2006) and Oh Heart (2004). Her appearance with Symphony Nova Scotia as part of their Pop Series inspired Barber to explore the classic sounds of the 40’s and 50’s.
